Florida’s largest food bank helps residents suffering from food insecurity

LADY LAKE, Fla. — Florida’s largest food bank is helping residents in Central Florida get access to fresh produce and nonperishable canned goods.

Farm Share, along with other organizations in Lady Lake, partnered to prepare food for 300 families in need.

They work with local farmers to recover food that would go to waste because it may not look perfect.

Food banks are working every day to meet the needs of the 4 million families suffering from food insecurity across the state.

“We hope that anyone in need doesn’t hesitate to look for a local food pantry or food distribution,” said Carrol Neal, director of Christian Food Pantry. “There are many people that want to help you, and it’s available.”

In 2020, Farm Share distributed more than 104 million pounds of food and served more than 86 million meals.
