EUSTIS, Fla. — The Lake County Sheriff’s Office is conducting active assailant training for school resource deputies in Eustis and Umatilla this week.
The first session of the training is taking place on Thursday at Life-Pointe Church in Eustis. Deputies will continue the exercises on Friday at Umatilla Middle School.
The training is intended to prepare deputies for critical incidents before the start of the upcoming school year. According to the Sheriff’s Office, the exercises help personnel practice their response to emergencies in a school setting.
Residents in Eustis and Umatilla might see increased law enforcement during the sessions.
The Sheriff’s Office said it’s only for scheduled training and there’s no public concern.
