Person dies after being shot several times in Leesburg, police say

LEESBURG, Fla. — Police in Leesburg are looking for a gunman after a person was shot and killed Friday night.

Officers said they arrived around 11:09 p.m. to the 2200 block of Waitman Avenue after reports that someone had been shot.

Police said they found a victim who had been shot several times lying in the roadway.

The victim was taken to UF Health in Leesburg and subsequently to Ocala Regional Medical Center, where they died.

The further details were released by law enforcement.
