MARION COUNTY, Fla. — Emergency crews are responding to a significant natural gas leak in a Marion County neighborhood after a main gas line was struck Tuesday afternoon.
Marion County Fire Rescue said crews were called to the area of Southeast 89th Court and Del Webb Boulevard in the Del Webb community.
Officials said damage to a main gas line caused a major leak.
Marion County Fire Rescue, the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, TECO and county emergency management officials are working at the scene. TECO crews are attempting to shut down the gas main and stop the leak.
Residents and drivers are being asked to avoid the area and not enter the neighborhood until officials say it is safe.
No injuries were immediately reported.
