ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — Orange County deputies are investigating a man’s death in west Orange County.
The death was reported around 3 p.m. Sunday on Good Homes Road and Willowwood Street.
Deputies who responded to a man-down call found him unresponsive and not breathing after witnesses spotted him along the shore of Lake Florence.
Four teenagers told Channel 9's Cierra Putman that they saw the man's body and thought he was sleeping. They were in the area after cleaning up a neighbor's pool.
"We were dropping off a turtle from the pool," said Madison Shea, 14.
"When I first saw the body, I thought it was a homeless guy sleeping on the ground. We just left, didn't think anything of it," said Kim Yarborough, 16.
The teens left and came back with two other teens, Neo O'Berry, 16 and Gavin Bryant, 18, and they said the body was still there. They yelled at the man and shook him, and when he didn't move, they called deputies.
Deputies said they're investigating the death of the man, later identified as Yulon Jasen Wallace, as a homicide, and that they do suspect foul play.
"We saw some blood on his stomach, dried-up blood," Yarborough said.
Residents said they're not used to this that of crime in the neighborhood.
