Man sought after trying to lure children into car using Pokemon in Altamonte Springs

ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla. — Altamonte Springs police said they are searching for a man who tried to lure several children into his car near the Hidden Springs condominiums on Jamestown Boulevard.

Police said the latest incident happened Wednesday around 3:30 p.m.

Investigators said the man told the children that there was a Pokemon from Pokemon Go in his car, and that they should get inside to capture it.

The children, who are middle schoolers, were walking to the Hidden Springs Complex, police said.

None of the children complied. They screamed and that got the attention of an adult, police said. A parent of one of the children described the man as a white man in his early 40s, heavy set, with a beard and long hair, wearing a blue work uniform and driving a blue Toyota Prius.

“You know, some kids are going to fall for it, so it’s definitely something that concerns us, because a lot of kids are using that app and that game,” said Evelyn Estevez, with the Altamonte Springs Police Department.
