Man's body pulled from Halifax River in Daytona Beach

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — Police are investigating after the body of a man was pulled from the Halifax River in Daytona Beach Sunday afternoon.

According to Daytona Beach police, a member of the Halifax Sailing Association saw the body floating in the water near the shoreline around 3 p.m.

The body was found in the water between Fremont Court and the dock at Bethune Point Park.

Police said the man, believed to be in his late 50s or early 60s was a homeless person and was known to police officers.

According to police there were no visible signs of trauma. An autopsy will be performed to determine the cause of death.

Police are withholding his identity pending notification of his next of kin.
