Firefighters contain fire at Marion County Public Schools building, officials say

OCALA, Fla. — Ocala Fire Rescue is investigating a fire that badly damaged a school district building in Marion County.

Fire rescue responded to a fire at 7:54 p.m. on Saturday at the Technical Services department of Marion County Public Schools.

Upon arrival, firefighters could see a column of black smoke rising from one of the buildings. Firefighters then breached the exterior fence to access the property.

Firefighters entered the building, and were able to locate the source of the fire and contain it.

According to a news release, no one was inside the building.

About 16 people who work there will be relocated until repairs can be made.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
