ORLANDO, Fla. — “Thresholds,” a solo exhibition by Winter Park-based painter Mimi Hwang, will open to the public on Saturday, Sept. 12, at Meredith Sand Designs Studio & Gallery located at 221 South Bumby Ave., Suite 102, in Orlando.
The exhibition features expressive abstract paintings exploring memory, identity, transformation, and belonging. Hwang’s visual style is shaped by her Asian heritage and Western birth, blending contemporary abstraction with elements of traditional Asian art and Chinese calligraphy brushwork.
Throughout the collection, the concept of a threshold is presented as a space between past events and future possibilities rather than a strict boundary.
Meredith Sand Designs Studio & Gallery is located. The exhibition arrives as the gallery prepares for organizational changes.
The public opening reception will take place at the gallery on Sept. 12. Further changes and announcements regarding the gallery will be revealed in the coming months.
