Monsters Café at Universal Studios closes to make room for new dining experience

ORLANDO, Fla. — It’s no longer alive!

Universal Studios’ Classic Monsters Café, a long-running barbecue joint near the entrance themed around cinema’s classic horror movie monsters, has permanently closed its doors after more than 20 years, the resort announced, ironically, on Friday the 13th.

The closure will “make way for a new dining experience,” Universal said. More details will be announced at a later time, the park said.

Since 1998, Monsters Café served up barbecue with all the fixings to guests who could dine in areas themed after Dracula, Frankenstein, the Creature from the Black Lagoon, the Wolf Man and more.
