TODAY: Citizens Safety Task Force to address ongoing gun violence in Orange County

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — Orange County residents will have two more opportunities this week to weigh in on the ongoing gun violence in the community.

The county’s Citizens Safety Task Force is scheduled to meet Tuesday morning.

The group aims to find solutions to community problems and includes members of diverse backgrounds.

The county said they include young adults, faith-based leaders, behavioral health professionals, and law enforcement officers, to name a few.

Tuesday’s meeting runs from 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. and will be held at:

  • Barnett Park Recreation Center, 4801 W Colonial Drive, Orlando, FL 32808

On Wednesday evening, the task force will host a community forum titled “Prevent and Reduce Gun Violence and Violent Crime.”

The meeting will be held from 6 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. at:

  • Patmos Chapel, The Well Activity Center, 110 Athletes Row, Apopka, FL 32703

Residents are encouraged to attend both events.

Earlier this month, Orange County launched a 19-question online survey.

County leaders continue to ask residents to participate.

Questions include rating the level of gun violence in their community, sharing how safe they feel, and offering up opinions on how to prevent and reduce violence.
