GENEVA, Fla. — An adult could face animal cruelty and arson charges after a fire killed several dogs at a Seminole County home Monday, according to the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office.
The Sheriff’s Office is working with the State Fire Marshal’s Office to investigate the fire at a home on Snow Hill Road.
Detectives said charges are pending against an adult who lives at the property. Officials have not identified the person or announced an arrest.
Firefighters responded to the home around 10 a.m. One person escaped safely, and no civilian injuries were reported.

The Sheriff’s Office said multiple dogs were involved in the fire and some did not survive. Officials were still determining how many animals were killed, injured or missing Monday afternoon.
The homeowner previously told firefighters that as many as 19 dogs may have been on the property. Four surviving dogs were being transported to Seminole County Animal Services.
The Sheriff’s Office said additional information is expected to be released as the investigation continues.
