DAYTONA BEACH. Fla. — A man known as the “Naked Cowboy” was arrested by Daytona Beach police Saturday on charges of panhandling and resisting an officer without violence.
According to a police report, Robert Burck, of New York, was arrested Saturday after officers say they observed him posing for pictures as bystanders stuffed money into his guitar, which is a violation of the city’s panhandling ordinance.
Police say when officers attempted to take Burck into custody, he pulled away from the officers damaging his guitar.
Burck was released from jail after appearing before a judge Sunday morning.
Burck, who is famous for performing in Times Square wearing a cowboy hat, white briefs and cowboy boots, was in Daytona as part of the annual Bike Week festivities.
