ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — Construction is underway on a new Habitat for Humanity home that a Central Florida family is expected to move into just in time for the holidays.
Habitat for Humanity Greater Orlando & Osceola County and Williams Company broke ground Tuesday morning on the Orange County home as part of the seventh annual Home for the Holidays event.
Over the next several weeks, Williams Company, along with its subcontractors and vendors, will donate time, labor and materials to build the house.
A local family will purchase the completed home through an affordable mortgage, with a home dedication ceremony planned for Dec. 11.
“Home is where health is nurtured, education is strengthened, opportunities are unlocked, and, especially during the holiday season, a place where lifetime memories are made,” Habitat Orlando & Osceola President and CEO Catherine Steck McManus said.
Organizers said this marks Williams Company’s seventh consecutive year participating in Home for the Holidays and its eighth home built alongside the organization.
“The holidays are about bringing people together, and there is no better way to celebrate the season than by coming together as a team to build a deserving family a place to call home,” Williams Company Vice President of Operations Matt Olberding said.
Habitat Orlando & Osceola also offers programs for people working toward homeownership, financial preparedness or home repairs.
The organization’s Housing Path Finder tool is designed to connect residents with services based on their individual housing goals.
