New Splitsville bowling center unveiled in Downtown Disney

KISSIMMEE, Fla. — One day after Disney announced a big expansion, the company released new information about the "Avatar" attraction coming to Animal Kingdom and something new at Downtown Disney.

WFTV's Steve Barrett was at the grand opening celebration for the new Splitsville Luxury Bowling Center, bar and sushi restaurant.

"We have 30 lanes on two levels," said co-owner Mark Gibson. "We have two sushi bars, so the food is phenomenal. We try to offer new perspectives and a view of bowling that's unlike any other."

Friday's event attracted Olympic track star Kellie Wells, who said she, like many runners, bowls a lot.

"Oh my, God, it's like the best place," Wells said. "It's like adult bowling, a place to bring your kids. You can have fun with your teammates."

The event ends three days of new revelations by Disney. However, officials touted more future projects, including more Fantasyland attractions, the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train and the Princess Fairytale Hall, and separate projects that include a new "Avatar" attraction being added soon to the Animal Kingdom.
