Orange County Clerk’s Office seeking intended recipients of nearly 12,000 unclaimed checks

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — Time is running out for a chance to claim money being held by the Orange County Clerk of Courts office.

The clerk’s office has compiled a list of nearly 12,000 unclaimed checks they have that were never cashed.

They include checks that were mailed and never cashed possibly because the recipient moved without leaving a forwarding address or checks that were simply forgotten.

Among the 11,924 checks are uncashed vendor payments, refunds, and cash bonds ranging in value from as little as four cents to as much as $5,000.

The clerk’s office is encouraging everyone to go to their website and search the list for their name.

If your name is on the list, you’ll have until Sept. 1 to claim the money.

“Our customers deserve to receive the money that is rightly theirs,” Orange County Clerk of Courts Tiffany Moore Russell said. “That is why every year we go above and beyond to spread the word about our unclaimed checks list.”

Money that isn’t claimed by Sept. 1 will be deposited into the clerk’s Fine and Forfeiture Fund.
