Firefighters will climb the ladder at a 70 to 90-degree angle to prepare for the official Climb for Air event in February.

The event will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the City National Bank Tower.

The American Lung Association said that emergency responders had reported chronic health issues, including a lingering cough, asthma, allergies and lung or bronchial cancer in extreme cases.

The organization said the Orange County fire department will educate about the dangers firefighters face and how they can protect their lungs with well-fitting equipment.
