Orange County officials host free sandbag, PPE program for residents

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — Officials in Orange County want to prepare its residents for hurricane season by launching a free, self-serve sandbag program.

The program begins Thursday and runs through July 30 at several sites around Central Florida.

Anyone who chooses to visit a site will be required to comply with CDC safety guidelines by wearing a face mask. Personal protective equipment will also be provided for households.

While bags and sand will be provided on site, residents are encouraged to bring their own tools to fill the sandbags.
