Orange County school officials to meet over Florida’s rules on library books

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — Orange County Public School officials are set to meet Tuesday to talk about how to handle the state’s rules on library books.

The rules are meant to keep inappropriate topics out of classrooms and libraries.

In January, some Orange County teachers said they’ll get rid of their classroom libraries altogether, because of those new state rules.

District leaders spent hours revising their procedures to meet the new guidelines.

Teachers now must catalog all the books in their classrooms, so parents can review them.
