Orange County to spray for mosquitoes after 5 dengue fever cases

Mosquito spraying is planned in these Orange County areas after 5 dengue cases.

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — Orange County mosquito control crews are planning to spray parts of Apopka and Pine Hills Friday night in an effort to prevent the spread of dengue fever and other mosquito-borne illnesses.

The spraying is scheduled to begin around 7 p.m., following five confirmed cases of dengue fever in the county.

Officials say the operation is aimed at helping control the mosquito population and reduce the risk of further spread.

However, the threat of thunderstorms could interrupt spraying operations.

If crews are unable to finish Friday night, the county says they will return Saturday night to complete the work.

Residents in the affected areas should be aware of the scheduled mosquito control efforts as crews work to limit the spread of mosquito-borne diseases.
