Orange County voter turnout surpasses 50% on Election Day

More than 10,000 voters an hour have visited polling sites on average Tuesday, officials say

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — Voter turnout in Orange County has surpassed 50%, with elections officials reporting an average of more than 10,000 voters an hour at polling sites on Election Day.

Officials said turnout is exceeding 2022 levels, but it is too early to say whether it will set a record.

“We wouldn’t say record yet; we would have to finish the night to see what those look like, but right now they are surpassing the 2022 numbers,” said Jeandelize Velez, community outreach coordinator for the Orange County Supervisor of Elections.

When are polling places busiest?

Velez said polling sites typically see their busiest hours between 4 and 7 p.m., as people arrive after work.

Polls close at 7 p.m. Voters in line by that time will be allowed to cast a ballot.
