50 Orange County elementary students surprised with new bikes

ORLANDO, Fla. — The Orlando Police Department partnered with Academy Sports to surprise some lucky students.

On Monday, 50 elementary school students received brand-new bikes and helmets.

School resource officers selected deserving kids from 25 Orange County Public Schools.

This is the third year that OPD and Academy Sports have worked together to give back to the community.

“For some of these kids, this might be the first bike they’ve ever received and there’s nothing like having your own two wheels and being able to get out there and enjoy some of this great Florida weather we have,” said Academy Sport regional marketing specialist Mike Reynolds

The new bikes are meant to encourage students to spend more time outside and stay active.
