ORLANDO, Fla. — Orlando will soon host a special event for the first time, USA Track and Field, and the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Committee announced this week.
The city will host the U.S. Olympic Team marathon trials in 2024 to help select the team for the Paris Olympics.
The top three female and male finishers will be selected for the 2024 USATF Olympic squad.
Orlando is the first Florida city to be awarded the honor of holding the trials.
Jason Siegel, president and CEO of the Greater Orlando Sports Commission, said this event will celebrate downtown Orlando on an international stage.
The trials will be held on Feb. 3, 2024.
