Orlando introduces new affordable housing program

ORLANDO, Fla. — Orlando is rolling out a new program to make it more affordable for people to live in the city.

It’s called the Certified Affordable Housing Projects Pilot Program, and it’s a building permit fee rebate.

As long as the housing is considered affordable and within city limits, building fees would be reduced on new construction and refunded on projects approved since 2019.

At least 20% of the units in a development must be considered affordable to qualify.

The pilot program is expected to last through February 2025.
