Orlando Science Center brings back Cosmic Concerts with laser shows through December

ORLANDO, Fla. — The Orlando Science Center has earned accreditation from the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA), a designation awarded after a comprehensive review of the facility’s animal care, operations and management practices.

The accreditation process includes a detailed application, multi-day on-site inspection and evaluation of areas such as animal wellbeing, veterinary care, staff training, educational programming, conservation efforts and financial stability.

According to AZA, the science center met the organization’s standards for animal care and management and was among 30 institutions granted accreditation during the organization’s annual conference this week.

“We are committed to being advocates for conservation education while our animals serve as unique ambassadors for our mission,” said JoAnn Newman, president and CEO of the Orlando Science Center.

The science center noted it is one of only 15 institutions nationwide to hold accreditation from both AZA and the American Alliance of Museums.

AZA accreditation must be renewed every five years and is considered one of the highest recognitions for institutions that house and care for animals.
