Kissimmee vacant motel fire deemed suspicious

OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. — Officials said the state fire marshal is investigating a suspicious fire that broke out at a vacant motel near Kissimmee.

The fire started in a room at a vacant Econo Lodge motel on U.S. 192 on Saturday, investigators said.

The motel has been vacant for about six months, and since there's no power, investigators said they believe the fire is suspicious.

Neighbors said that along with squatters, the motel is an eyesore and they want it torn down.

“I saw so many people going in and out of there, we thought eventually they're going to tear it down," said neighbor Margaret Tone.

WFTV found out that a fire was set at the motel in 2011.
