ORLANDO, Fla. — OUC is proposing a fuel rate decrease that would save typical residential electric customers approximately $5 per month.
The proposed reduction would provide nearly $3.3 million in monthly savings across all OUC electric customers.
The utility will present the proposal to the OUC Board of Commissioners on Dec. 15.
If approved, the lower rates would take effect in April 2027, bringing the typical monthly bill for residential customers using 1,000 kilowatt-hours down to approximately $128.85.
The proposed rate reduction would put OUC’s typical residential bill about $7.62 below the average electric bill charged by peer utilities across Florida. Commercial customers would also see lower energy costs, with specific savings varying based on electricity usage.
Clint Bullock, general manager and chief executive officer of OUC, discussed the utility’s effort to manage costs for Central Florida residents.
“At a time when families are paying more for just about everything, we know every dollar matters,” Bullock said. “It’s why we’re focused on keeping our customers’ bills affordable even though electricity costs continue to rise across the country. This proposed decrease reflects our commitment to managing costs responsibly, passing savings along to our customers and delivering the reliable service they count on.”
OUC provides electric, water, chilled water, lighting, and solar services to nearly 300,000 customers. The utility operates across Orlando, St. Cloud and parts of unincorporated Orange and Osceola counties.
The proposal will be formally presented to the OUC Board of Commissioners at its meeting on Dec. 15. If approved by the board, the reduced rates will take effect in April 2027.
