Pedestrian killed by SunRail train in Lake Mary, officials say

LAKE MARY, Fla. — A pedestrian was killed Friday evening after being struck by a SunRail train in Lake Mary, officials said.

The incident happened at about 6:45 p.m. in the area of Old Lake Mary Road and Pedigo Point, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

The pedestrian, who was not identified, was pronounced dead at the scene, officials said.

SunRail suspend two routes while authorities processed the scene.

Buses were being used to transport passengers between the Sanford and Lake Mary SunRail stations, the Florida Department of Transportation said.

The pedestrian's death was later determined to have been an act of suicide, FHP said.
