Police: Ex-corrections officer travels to Orlando with bag of guns to have sex with teen

ORLANDO, Fla. — An ex-correctional officer from Alabama is behind bars after police said he used his visit to try to solicit a 13-year-old girl for sex, during a business trip in Orlando.

Kevin Alexander is being held in jail without bond in eight felony charges.

It all started with an ad an undercover detective posted on Craigslist seeking a “good male role model for her 13-year-old daughter.”

But in a matter of 24 hours, his offer to help turned to solicitation for sex.

“He believed he had the mother's approval to get the child for the evening,” said the detectives, who cannot be identified because she works undercover.

She said Alexander detailed what he would do with the 13-year-old that night.

“One of the things that he wanted to do is make sure he got naked photographs and videos while the child was going to be with him,” she said.

He did show some concern when he asked if he was communicating with police.

When Alexander arrived and was arrested, police searched his car and found a duffel bag with three loaded guns.

“Had there really been a kid, I don’t know what he would have done,” said the detective. “I don’t know if the kid would be alive right now, or sold already in the world of human trafficking.”

The detective has worked these kinds of cases on the side for the last 10 years, but in the last 30 days, the Orlando Police Department had decided there were enough of the cases out there to warrant a full-time detective.
