Recount ordered for some close primary races in Volusia County

VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. — A recount has been ordered for some neck-and-neck races from Tuesday’s Florida primary in Volusia County, according to the Supervisor of Elections office.

The Volusia County Canvassing Board officially acted on the results of Tuesday’s primary. A recount was ordered for State Representative District 29 and Ponce Inlet Town Council Seat 4.

According to preliminary results in the State Representative race, Rep. Webster Barnaby received 7,454 votes, or 50.09% of the votes, and Rep. Elizabeth Fetterhoff received 7,428 votes, or 49.91%..

In the Ponce Inlet Town Council Seat 4 race, preliminary results indicate that David Israel received 813 votes, or 49.82% of them, and Joe Villanella received 819 votes, or 50.18%.

If the machine recount in either race indicates that a manual recount is required, it will begin immediately after the machine recount.

TIMELINE: Florida Primary 2022

The recount begins 9 a.m. Friday at the Supervisor of Elections in DeLand, 1750 S. Woodland Blvd. The public is welcome to attend.
