BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. — Deputies in Brevard County are asking for the public's help in locating a woman who disappeared two weeks ago.
Yekaterina "Katie" Belaya, a 47-year-old college professor, was last seen near her home on Rock Springs Drive in Suntree.
The mother of three was last seen on Sept. 28, according to the Brevard County Sheriff's Office.
"When I got home, my sister said that she had stepped out for 30 minutes to go to the store," said Belaya's daughter, Maria. "We tried getting ahold of her and her phone was off and after that just nothing."
Katie Belaya was a science professor at East Florida State College. She was driving a 2003 Honda Odyssey the night she drove off.
Investigators told Channel 9 they have been speaking with family and friends who have been cooperating with the investigation but have been unable to come up with the clues in the case.
"Her family members are concerned about her whereabouts. Her going missing is not common," said David Jacobs of the Sheriff's Office.
Maria Belaya said her mother has recently been experiencing blackouts, and she worries that may have led to her disappearance.
"She has had some spells, just like blacking out, but we think maybe that happened. She usually comes out of them," her daughter said.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Brevard County Sheriff's Office.
