Seminole County encouraging everyone to get tested for COVID-19, symptomatic or not

SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. — Seminole County is one of the few places in Central Florida with sites that will test people for COVID-19 whether or not they are showing symptoms.

Health officials are pushing for everyone to get tested, in an effort to see how widespread the virus is.

“We thought it was very important for everyone to get tested, because individuals may be asymptomatic,” said Alan Harris, Seminole County EMA director. “Sometimes it’s just peace of mind.”

Dr. Neil Finkler at AdventHealth says 1% to 2% of the population is walking around asymptomatic and is COVID-positive.

Here’s what you need to know about testing in Seminole County:

  • In Seminole County, drive-thru testing is available at the Seminole Town Center in Sanford, as well as pop-up sites across the community.
  • AdventHealth’s testing is by appointment only.
  • When you arrive, you must wear a mask.
  • Have your drivers license and insurance cards handy. However, insurance is not required.
  • Workers at the site will hand you a sheet outlining what to expect after your COVID-19 test.
  • Testing is different depending on where you go. At AdventHealth, you just spit in a cup and fill it up to a line.
  • Results will be texted to you. They can be expected in three to four days due to the high demand.
