SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. — Seminole County has updated its sandbag pickup hours as residents prepare for possible flooding after recent heavy rain.

County sites in Geneva and Sanford are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. The county initially made 3,000 prefilled sandbags available on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last. Empty bags and dirt are also available to Seminole County residents. See Channel 9’s earlier coverage of the county’s sandbag operations.

Where can Seminole County residents get sandbags?

  • Geneva: Old Geneva Volunteer Fire Station, 217 2nd St.
  • Sanford: Boombah Sports Complex overflow lot, 3325 Cameron Ave.

Both county sites are unstaffed. Residents who plan to fill their own bags should bring a shovel and gloves and be prepared to fill and load the bags themselves. A filled bag can weigh about 30 pounds, so the county recommends bringing someone to help.

Where can Winter Springs residents get sandbags?

Winter Springs is offering self-service sandbags at Central Winds Park, 1000 Central Winds Drive, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 4, and Thursday, Nov. 5. The city limits residents to 15 bags per household while supplies last.

Altamonte Springs’ sandbag sites have closed. Residents should check with their city for updates before heading out. Check Seminole County’s sandbag information.
