Dad named as person of interest in stabbing that killed 3-year-old girl, critically wounded another

LONGWOOD, Fla. — Longwood police are investigating after a young girl was found dead inside a home.

4 p.m. update:

Longwood police named the father of the girls as a person of interest and is now in the hospital after hurting himself.

Investigators said the 12-year-old girl who survived ran about a mile to a McDonald’s in search of help.

Police say the 3-year-old girl, 12-year-old girl and man were stabbed multiple times.

Police said there is no threat to the public.

10:30 a.m. update:

Police in Longwood are investigating after a 3-year-old girl was found dead and two others suffered critical injuries Thursday morning.

Officers said they responded to a “domestic incident” around 5:40 a.m. at a home on Highland Street.

Police said they were alerted by a 12-year-old girl who was inside the home during the incident and walked to a nearby McDonald’s for help.

The children’s mother was not home at the time of the incident but is aware of what happend, police said.

Officers confirmed there is no threat to the community.

Longwood police are investigating the death of a juvenile at a home early Thursday.

Officers said they responded to a “suspicious incident” around 5:40 a.m. at a home on Highland Street.

Police said a juvenile was found dead at the home and an adult and another juvenile were taken to a hospital in critical condition.

Several officers were also seen nearby at a McDonald’s restaurant on Church Avenue near 17-92.
