Potential land swap in Seminole County draws debate

SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. — A potential, and controversial, land swap between Seminole County and a developer brought out both sides of the argument during a meeting in Geneva Monday night.

The River Cross development has been stalled in a legal fight since 2018. The massive development was proposed to include 600 single-family homes, 270 townhomes, 500 apartments and retail space.

However, the developer sued the county after commissioners turned down plans for the massive development in 2018. Now, a proposed land swap could move the development forward.

The county would give the developer 238 acres of the Econ River Wilderness area in exchange for 669 acres just north of the Orange County line.
