SANFORD, Fla. — Power has been fully restored to city-owned facilities in Sanford after outages caused by downed power lines forced temporary closures Thursday morning.
The Sanford Civic Center, Senior Center and Sanford Museum all reopened at 1 p.m. following safety inspections by municipal staff.
Utility crews responded earlier in the day to assess damage and repair lines that knocked out electricity to several municipal properties. Once power was restored, city staff conducted building-by-building safety checks before allowing the facilities to resume normal operations.
Most affected locations are now operating on regular schedules. The Fort Mellon Splash Pad, however, remained closed Thursday while crews completed final system checks on pumps, filtration and related equipment.
City officials expect the splash pad to reopen Friday morning once those final safety and operational checks are finished.
