Seminole County residents with special needs can register for emergency shelter program

SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. — As all of Florida keeps an eye on the tropics, residents in Seminole County are being reminded it’s never too early to prepare for hurricane season.

Part of the planning should also include making sure loved ones are ready for any severe weather that Central Florida may see.

In Seminole County, residents are encouraged to look into the Special Needs Emergency Shelter Program.

The program helps first responders keep a record of important needs before an emergency.

If Seminole County residents are registered and there is a hurricane, they will be notified about evacuations and shelter openings.

The program also helps those who need medically enhanced equipment such as oxygen, or refrigeration for medication.
