Police: 2 boys arrested after attempted car break-in leads to shooting

ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla. — Two 16-year-old boys were arrested following an attempted car break-in that ended with a shooting in Altamonte Springs.

An Altamonte Springs man said he chased the teens with a knife after they attempted to break into his car, and one of the teens shot him.

Altamonte Springs police said Courlan Smith, 16, is charged with attempted murder and his accomplice Jamari Williams, 16, is facing a charge of burglary while armed.

The man who was shot, who asked not to be identified by name, said even though they are just teens, they put themselves into an adult situation and deserve the repercussions they receive.

Police are still investigating and said there could be more arrests. Although the teens are facing juvenile charges now, those could be upgraded.
