Seminole Science students win statewide mayor contest

SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. — Two Seminole Science Charter School students earned the top two spots in a statewide contest asking middle schoolers how they would make a positive change in their communities.

Rawy Soliman won first place in the “If I Were Elected Mayor” contest, while fellow student Tanish Arora took second place.

The Florida League of Cities and Florida League of Mayors selected the winners after reviewing nearly 1,200 submissions from middle school students across the state.

This month, the City of Lake Mary recognized Soliman and Arora with certificates and a proclamation honoring their achievements.

According to information provided about the contest, this is the first time judges have selected the top two winners from the same school.
