NEW SMYRNA BEACH, Fla. — A surfer reported being bitten by a shark Wednesday morning in New Smyrna Beach, according to Volusia County Beach Safety.
Officials said the incident was reported shortly after 11 a.m. in the 2000 block of North The Beach.
Beach Safety personnel arrived and found a man having an injury to his right foot bandaged.
The man told officials he had been surfing when the incident happened.
He declined medical treatment from Beach Safety personnel and did not provide additional information before leaving the scene, officials said.
Authorities have not released the man’s identity or additional details about the severity of the injury.
