St. Cloud Walmart employee who refused service to officer no longer working at store

ST. CLOUD, Fla. — A St. Cloud Walmart employee is no longer working at the store after being accused of refusing service to a police officer, who was in uniform.

Last week, Channel 9 reported about how the officer told a friend that a cashier pointed to her skin color and told HIM she wouldn’t ring up his items.

The officer told that friend a second employee laughed at the way the officer was treated.

The incident happened at the Walmart on 13th Street earlier this month, sparking outrage among members of a Facebook group.

Walmart released a statement saying, “We take these things seriously and do not tolerate discrimination of any kind in our stores.

We value the relationships we have with law enforcement agencies throughout the country and we've met with the St. Cloud Police Department to address their concerns.  We want everyone to be treated with respect whether they are in our stores or anywhere in the community.

The cashier who was involved in this situation no longer works in our store.”
