Temporary COVID-19 testing site opens in Osceola County

OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. — A temporary COVID-19 testing site has launched in Osceola County.

Leaders said the site was opened at the request of residents. Families told Channel 9 that finding a test site has been a frustrating process.

The new site is located at The Maingate in Kissimmee, which is not far from Walt Disney World.

County leaders launched the new location to meet the increased need for testing.

A spokesperson said work on the site began weeks ago during the omicron surge and plans were finalized this week.

According to data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, demand for testing in Osceola County is the highest it’s been since the start of the pandemic.

Appointments are required. The site will be open seven days a week from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
