Titusville man charged with second-degree murder in domestic violence case

BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. — A Titusville man is facing a second-degree murder charge in what’s being called a case of domestic violence.

Police said the incident happened just after 4 a.m. Wednesday at a home on Sandalwood Lane near South Park Avenue in Titusville. A neighbor called police to the Hickory Forest neighborhood after a knock on the door.

When police arrived on scene they found the suspect, 56-year-old Steven O’Neil Smith, sitting on his front porch covered in what appeared to be blood.

Officials said Smith lived with the victim, who investigators believe may have been stabbed to death.

Titusville police said they didn’t find any history of previous domestic violence calls at the couple’s residence.
