TN school psychologist arrested in Florida on child porn charges

Richard Pitcock

HOLLYWOOD, Fla. — A western Tennessee school psychologist has been accused of possessing child pornography.

Broward County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Dani Moschella said that Richard Pitcock, 51, of Ashland City was arrested Tuesday at a Hollywood, Florida hotel and is facing 26 child pornography-related counts.

According to an arrest report, Pitcock was arrested after investigators discovered someone was sharing or advertising child pornography images online.

Cheatham County School District spokesman Jeff Bennett said Pitcock was immediately suspended without pay, pending the result of an investigation.

Officials said Pitcock mainly conducted evaluations for special-needs students in grades K-12.

Cheatham County director of schools Stan Curtis says he is not sure if any of the materials involved Cheatham County students.
