UCF students create memorial to honor slain TV journalist Dylan Lyons

Tributes are pouring in for Spectrum News 13 reporter Dylan Lyons.

A memorial is growing at the University of Central Florida where he graduated from.

Lyons had an impact on newsrooms across Florida, including Channel 9 where he worked as an intern.

His former teachers and UCF alums are honoring and remembering him.

UCF students held a moment of silence in memory of Lyons at a memorial started for him at the journalism school he graduated from.

Professor Tim Brown organized the area to remember Lyons on campus. Dylan was one of Brown’s students years ago.

Dylan’s death is making national headlines. The 24-year-old was shot to death while on the job waiting to do a live report on the suspect who’s accused of shooting him and his photographer on Wednesday.

A memorial for Lyons is now growing outside of the Nicholson School of Communication and Media.
