VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. — Volusia County families can learn about rip current safety while getting into the Halloween spirit at a free event later this month.
Volusia County Beach Safety and Daytona State College will host a Halloween-themed rip current simulator event at 9 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 24, at the Daytona State College Aquatic Center.
Beach Safety lifeguards will guide participants through the county’s rip current simulator, teaching them how rip currents move and what to do if they encounter one in the water.
The event is free and will include Halloween treats. Participants are encouraged to wear costumes over their swimsuits.
Registration is available by emailing tara.herzig@daytonastate.edu.
