DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — Liwei Sun and Hongyu Kuang were arrested by Daytona Beach Police during an investigation into a scheme involving Tesla vehicles falsely reported as stolen.
Investigators believe the fraud scheme extends beyond Florida and has also been occurring in other states.
Sun is charged with an organized scheme to defraud over $50,000, unauthorized possession of a driver’s license, and grand theft of a motor vehicle.
Kuang faces multiple charges of unauthorized possession of a driver’s license and trespassing in a structure or conveyance.
