5 puppies dumped at Halifax Humane Society, shelter seeking donations for medical care

VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. — Earlier this week, Halifax Humane Society workers found a cardboard box with five puppies inside left outside the shelter.

Officials said all of the puppies needed immediate medical attention, and one of the puppies died before they could be transported to an emergency vet.

The remaining four puppies received blood transfusions and are undergoing medical treatments for parasites. Officials said they will be placed in foster care in hopes of a full recovery.

The shelter is asking for donations to its Emergency Medical Fund to ensure that they have adequate funding to save the puppies and the next round of animals in need.
