Deputies: 18-year-old says he beat toy poodle to death, struck other dog out of anger with his parents

DELTONA, Fla. — Deputies said a Deltona man admitted to killing one family dog and striking another one several times because he was angry with his parents.

Austin Ilardo, 18, is accused of killing the family’s toy poodle by striking it with a wooden dowel and also striking the family’s Boston Terrier with his hands and a shoe.

Deputies said they found the toy poodle’s dead body in the home on Lehigh Drive around 10 p.m. Tuesday. They said the Boston Terrier was found in a bathroom, where the 18-year-old said he put the dog so he wouldn’t hurt her anymore.
