Elderly woman found dead after Christmas night house fire in Deltona

DELTONA, Fla. — Deputies in Volusia County are investigating after an elderly woman was found dead after a house fire.

The fire occurred Christmas night at a home on Gregory Drive in Deltona.

Elderly woman found dead after Christmas night house fire in Deltona

Firefighters were called out to the home around 9 p.m. Sunday for reports of a fire.

After battling the blaze, firefighters were able to put out the flames and later discovered the woman dead inside of the home.

Officials said the woman, who was in her 80s, was the only person inside the home during the fire.

Deputies have not released the identity of the woman and are contacting her family.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
